Often times Hispanic nurses work in isolation or with few other Hispanic nurse colleagues, NAHN-Illinois offers an opportunity to network with other Hispanic nurses working in diverse areas. NAHN-Illinois members are making contributions by advocating, educating, mentoring, and volunteering in the Latino community to improve health equity, elevate literacy, heighten education, and influence policy. You can enhance your leadership skills by joining a committee and/or running for a board position at the local or national level. The annual NAHN conference and Latino Leadership Institute (LLI) offer a unique opportunity to engage with Hispanic nurses from other chapters, discuss Hispanic health priorities, learn about research updates, and so much more. As a member, you’ll have opportunities to receive continuing education credits at chapter meetings and national conferences. As a NAHN-Illinois member you will have an exciting opportunity to make a larger impact by sharing your nursing experience and skills in the Hispanic communities.
There are many benefits for student nurse members such as mentorship, scholarships, volunteer opportunities, meeting potential employers, and building your nursing network. Here is a short video featuring NAHN student members sharing their personal membership experiences.
